The Bishop Lecture is named after George Holman Bishop, PhD, a neuroscientist at the School of Medicine who helped elucidate how electrical signals travel through nerve fibers. Bishop joined the faculty in 1923 and served until his death in 1973 at age 84. Bishop was highly regarded for his scientific skills and his remarkable way with words and sense of humor.
