“A Writer’s Journey: University communicator to journalist and back again”

Hosted by the Center for Health and Science Communication

Becker Library’s Center for Health and Science Communication presents Chris Woolston to take you on a journey through an unconventional career path–from his early days as an academic scientist in Antarctica to his current position as a research writer for Washington University Arts & Sciences.

Learn what inspired him and how he trained to become a science writer; get valuable insights from his two-decade detour freelancing for Nature, The Atlantic, and The New York Times; and discover what brought him back home to Washington University. Chris will touch on his reporting at the intersection of biology, psychology, and mental health, highlight the differences between journalistic writing and university communications, and reveal how his journalism background influences his current role.

This event is open to all.
