“The Worst Kept Secret: Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders”

Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) are the most common complication of childbirth in America, affecting over 1,000,000 women each year. Despite the high prevalence, PMADs remain all too often undisclosed, undiagnosed, and stigmatized, leading to suffering, stress, and even suicide.
Join Washington University alumna Aurielle Wilderman (Arts and Sciences ’05, University College ’12) for a discussion of her work founding The Wilderman Fund for Maternal Mental Health in response to the scarcity of mental healthcare she and her family experienced. Maternal mental health specialist Diane Sanford will join the question and answer portion of the program.
