“Development of Novel PET Probes for Imaging Inflammation”
Hosted by the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR)
Gyu Seong Heo, Ph.D., is an Instructor at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR), Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He is an organic and polymer chemist who has gained additional expertise in radiochemistry and imaging science. In 2016, Dr. Heo completed his Ph.D. studies under direction of Dr. Karen L. Wooley at Texas A&M University focusing on the design, synthesis, and characterization of small molecules to polymeric materials and nanoparticle systems. Following his graduate studies, he started a postdoctoral position with Dr. Yongjian Liu at MIR. Here, Dr. Heo’s research focuses on the development of PET imaging probes targeting inflammation for imaging and therapy. He has broad experience in the development of 64Cu-, 68Ga-, and 89Zr-labeled peptides, proteins, and nanoparticles, and made a significant contribution to the translation of CCR2-targeted radiotracer, 64Cu-DOTA-ECL1i.
