Short bio: James DeGregori is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics and Deputy Director of the University of Colorado Cancer Center. He has a B.A. Microbiology from the University of Texas at Austin and a PhD Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with postdoctoral training at Duke University. He holds the Courtenay and Lucy Patten Davis Endowed Chair in Lung Cancer Research, and is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Aging And Cancer.

His lab studies the evolution of cancer, in the context of their Adaptive Oncogenesis model, with a focus on how aging, smoking, and other insults influence fitness landscapes. The lab has developed this model based on classic evolutionary principles, and substantiated this model by theoretical, experimental and computational studies.

The Siteman Cancer Center Seminar Series is held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 3:30p. The location will vary per seminar and will be followed by happy hour from 4:30-5:30p.
