Background: Nelly Joseph-Mathurin, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Radiology since 2023. She earned her PhD in neuroscience from the Sorbonne University Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris, where she studied the effects of anti-amyloid immunotherapies in non-human primate models of aging and Alzheimer’s disease. She joined Dr. Benzinger’s Lab as a postdoctoral research associate in 2013 as part of the imaging core for the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network and its Trial Units. Dr. Joseph-Mathurin’s research interest covers vascular imaging, the genetics of Alzheimer disease, and evaluation of clinical trials, particularly in autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease. In 2020 she was awarded the Alzheimer’s Association Research Fellowship to promote diversity for her proposal to study genotype variability in individuals at risk for autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease. In 2023 she received her K-award to study the proteomics of neurovascular unit dysfunction and imaging changes in autosomal dominant AD. She is actively developing her vision for her lab including potential collaboration between her Caribbean community and her work at WashU.
