Tristan J. McIntosh, PhD, an assistant professor of medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has received a $1.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to study ethical collaborations between academia and industry in the development of brain technologies.

The goal is to fill gaps in understanding the ethical complexities of collaborations between companies and universities when developing brain implants and other neurotechnologies that have the capacity to change and record brain function or transmit brain activity.
